laws in all jurisdictions as appropriate. You further agree that the

each story
and not necessarily that of WoundedInIraq.org or it's principles, agents,
etc.... Any comments, suggestions, complaints, etc. should be directed
towards such authors and not to WoundedInIraq.org, it's principles, agents,
etc.... We reserve the right of proper recourse for violations
of this agreement should it become necessary.
These terms and conditions are applicable to you upon your accessing
the site. These terms
and conditions, or any part of them, may be modified, updated, or terminated
by WoundedInIraq.org without notice at any time, for any reason. The provisions
relating to Copyrights,
Trademark, Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification and Miscellaneous,
shall survive any termination.
Parental Discretion is advised:
Because of the potentially graphic nature
of some of the stories told here we strongly advise all parents to carefully
screen this site and any stories herein posted for descriptive and/or visual
images that may depict adult language, violence, and the results thereof. It
is up to each individual family and community viewing this site to enforce
their own level of
sensibilities
regarding the contents herein at their local level on their own community
members. We will,
to the best of our ability, minimize any editing of or modification to the
stories
gathered
here as
we believe they reflect the actual events and feelings of those involved,
and that they deserve an appropriate place in the records of contemporary
history.
By Contributing to this site you
acknowledge and understand:
We reserve the right to post stories at our sole discretion and will delay
the publication of said stories subject to verification (principally through
a copy of the subject of the stories purple heart citation sent via email
attachment to "info@woundediniraq.org";
or via a link provided to a mainstream local media source's online publication
of
the
story while adding the story into our system). We also intend to seek volunteers
in every state to help collect and verify stories through interviews, collecting
stories
from
local
media
outlets, and any other legal means as we may in the future establish.
By posting your original story here you grant us the right to use the contents
of said story, your name, photos, etc. without any reservations or copyright
claims on
this site only. All rights to copyrighted
materials submitted here remain the sole property of the holder of said
copyright and shall be properly credited or, if any objections are raised,
removed immediately with fair notice from said copyright holder, with our
apologies. All stories not already copyrighted by the creating parties and
the statistics and information developed here are the copyrighted property
of WoundedInIraq.org.
We reserve the right to edit or modify stories in any way we so choose without
notice to the participating parties although it is our intention to leave
the stories completely alone if at all possible. We urge all participates
to:
a.) Write the story out ahead of time before attempting to add it to
the site. We
strongly prefer you stick to the facts using the tried and true, time honored
method of answering the basics: Who; What; Where: When; and How.
b.) Spell check them completely, top to bottom!
c.) No special characters outside of the US ASCI-II character set (translation
- plain American English only!)
d.) Properly attribute stories from media outlets to the appropriate news
organization, photographer, and writer, including a link to that media
source so we may give them the recognition they have earned and deserve. You
will still get a contributor credit.
e.) Spell check the story again completely from top to bottom (no is this
not a duplicate of above - it's just that it's important enough that it bears
repeating!
We will not have time to spell check them ourselves).
If you happen to state an opinion that causes some controversy, stirs
ire, irks the intolerant, etc. to any large degree we reserve the right to
edit and remove content at our sole discretion.
Harassment in any manner or form on the site, including via e-mail, chat,
or by use of obscene or abusive language, is strictly forbidden. Impersonation
of others, including a WoundedInIraq.org or other licensed employee,
volunteer, host, or representative, as well as other members or visitors
on the site is prohibited. You may not upload to, distribute, or otherwise
publish
through
the site any content which is libelous, defamatory, obscene, threatening,
invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, illegal, or
which may constitute or encourage a criminal offense, violate the rights
of any party or which may otherwise give rise to liability or violate any
law. You may not upload commercial content on the site or use the site to
solicit others to join or become members of any other commercial online service
or other organization.
No release of personally identifiable information to third parties
We do not rent, sell, give, exchange, or otherwise share personally identifiable
information obtained from registrations on our website with other individuals
or organizations. We never provide contact information,
or names, of any individuals or entities that participate in any of our activities
to anyone.
Personally identifiable information is collected on our website only
on a voluntary basis.
Personally identifiable information such your name, affiliation(s),
address, contact information, or telephone number is collected only if
you “opt
in” by choosing to give us this information on a voluntary basis
by registering on our website.
We collect "aggregate data” from time to time.
We use aggregate data (without individual identification) to help us understand
what role individuals and what types
of organizations, use our site, so that we may improve its usability and
value. We also use aggregate data from online surveys you choose to fill
out for research and publication purposes. Individuals or firms are not
identified in any such research or publication.
We also collect data that helps us identify the time, date, Internet location,
and system information you use during any interaction with this site. This
information will assist us in the event of attempts to commit fraud against
our site and to help protect your personal information.
These materials may not be copied or redistributed for commercial
purposes or for compensation of any kind.
The Procedure for Volunteering with Us:
You will be asked to fill out a Volunteer Form which includes a mailing address,
contact email, and phone number. We will assign you a unique combination
of username and random password specifically to you and you alone. We
will contact you via the email address you provide within 2 regular business
days of receipt of
your volunteer form asking you to follow a certain procedure to confirm the
information you've sent us. We will also be calling you at the phone
number provided usually within the next 2 regular business
days to introduce ourselves and answer
any questions you may have. At that point we will activate your volunteer
status and you'll have a chance to get started.
When Volunteering for WoundedInIraq.org:
You acknowledge that your participation in our efforts is strictly at our
discretion and that we may for any or no reason dismiss, disassociate, or
otherwise disclaim your participation for cause or no cause at all. Our acceptance
of your participation is completely "at will" as defined under
the law in regular federal statutory labor practice.
You shall make no representations that you are anything other then an unpaid
volunteer, expecting no recourse, monetary or otherwise for your participation;
and that you shall not receive and accept any gifts, gratuities, compensation,
or renumeration of any sort without prior written agreement (in an original,
notarized document form on our special in-house stationary and letter head)
from WoundedInIraq.org and it's principles. Any said agreement can
and will be revocable in any of the following forms: via verbal revocation;
and/or by a single email to the address provided at the time of your acceptance
as
a
volunteer;
and/or
a letter written to your physical address as provided by you during the registration
process.
Should you violate the above terms you
hereby agree to pay WoundedInIraq.org and it's principles 1000 (One thousand)
times the amount of said unauthorized taking and to plead guilty in the appropriate
criminal jurisdiction to the appropriate form of "Unauthorized taking
or Obtaining Property by False Pretenses" as defined by North Carolina
State Laws in either
the Misdemeanor or Felony applications depending on the amount taken.
You further agree that your name, hometown,
and other contact information may
be posted publicly on this site, as well as your volunteer status (active,
inactive, revoked, etc.) without further recourse on your part. You agree
to keep your username and password private and confidential, not sharing
same with anyone at any time under any circumstances. Violation of
said rule shall result in your immediate exclusion from further participation
in our on going efforts to record these living historical stories. We
do keep a running log of site users and I.P. addresses for security purposes.
By Using the WoundedInIraq.org website:
You also agree to
bear any legal costs and additional expenses from criminal or civil cases
you cause to be brought against us including but not necessarily limited
to: exorbitant lawyers fees, outrageous transportation
expenses, medical and spa relaxation therapy treatments, as well as other
miscellaneous expenses including luxury accommodations
and
outstanding food per diems as may be found by the courts to be resulting
from
legal actions taken
from all alleged violations of the above
said terms and conditions, jurisdictional laws, etc. (legally binding or
otherwise), whether you or WoundedInIraq.org and/or it's principles
are found
responsible or not. Said expenses shall include any fines, court costs,
judgments, and/or loss of revenues that WoundedInIraq.org and it's principles,
and
attorneys may experience during
litigation arising from said terms and conditions. If you are unwilling
to meet any or all conditions above you must leave this site immediately,
now, and forever.
You may not "hack," "crack," "nibble," "chisel,"
or otherwise "test" this site "on our behalf" or otherwise. We
will prosecute violators to the fullest extend of the law possible.
